Jamaican Jerk Burgers with Mango Salsa

Take my opinion for what it’s worth, but I’m a firm believer that one of the quintessential foods of summer is a good, old fashioned hamburger.  Even better if it’s topped with all the fixings.

But another great part of summer is all the delicious fresh fruits and veggies!  So if you’re looking for a fun twist on your summer burger (and one that incorporates a tropical kick) then you’re in the right place!

Another great part about this recipe is that it freezes beautifully!  So you can easily prepare these burgers and the salsa ahead of time.

Jamaican Jerk Burgers with Mango Salsa

Ingredients (for burgers):

2 lbs ground beef (or turkey if you want to cut back on the fat content)

2 tbsp Pampered Chef Jamaican Jerk Rub

1 tbsp Pampered Chef Asian Seasonings Mix

1 tbsp Pampered Chef Cherry Balsamic Vinegar


Combine your meat and seasonings together in a large bowl…mix well to evenly distribute seasonings and vinegar throughout the meat.  Form into 8 patties.

To make this process incredibly easy, I love using the Pampered Chef Burger & Slider Press.  It allows you to make two different sizes of burgers…one large for 1/4 lb burgers, and a smaller part for slider-sized patties.   There’s even an attachment that lets you press a divot into the top of the burger…this helps the burger retain its shape as it shrinks a bit while being cooked, and it helps ensure the burger cooks evenly.

For this recipe I use the slider size.  It helps with portion control for me, and prevents us from wasting food when the Munchkins can’t finish a big one. I’ve also found homemade burgers to be a bit more filling than the frozen varieties in the grocery store.  Probably because the calories aren’t packed with the empty calories of processed ingredients.

Adding a thumbprint or divot in the top of your burgers help them keep their shape and cook evenly!


Salsa Ingredients (*original Pampered Chef recipe here)

1/2 tbsp Pampered Chef Jamaican Jerk Rub

1 large mango (I usually buy the freshly cut fruit in the produce section.  I have no idea how to cut up a mango)

1/2 small jicama (or a small apple, if you prefer a sweeter crunch)

orange bell pepper

jalapeno pepper, stem and seeds removed

1/3 small red onion

1 lime, freshly squeezed

1/4 tsp salt

Prep and dice all ingredients for your salsa.  Combine together in a food processor (I love my manual one from Pampered Chef) and chop coarsely.

Grill burgers on medium heat for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through cook time.

Using a grill pan lets you get those nice charred marks on your burger without setting foot near the outside grill!


Lightly toast hamburger buns.  Serve immediately atop buns and garnish with salsa.


This recipe has been a surprising crowd-please for our family, and I loved introducing the Husband and Munchkins to new flavors.  Munchkin #1 has even been asking for mangoes at the grocery store after loving the salsa!  Any recipe that leaves my kids asking for fruits instead of junk is a win in my book!

Serving for a crowd?  This recipe pairs well with Pampered Chef’s Raspberry Tequila Sangria recipe!  What a tropical treat!  But that booze goes down quickly, so be sure to drive safe, my friends!
